Description

Campbell County, Kentucky has two county courthouses in simultaneous use. One is located in Alexandria, the other in Newport. These marriage bonds were recorded in Alexandria, Kentucky, from 1851-1860. They were transcribed from the original documents.

Marriage bonds were a precursor to the modern marriage license. Often marriage bondsmen were related family members, usually relatives of the bride.
